At the moment I'm working on cancione y danza no 11. It is a very spiritual piece of music - much in the same way as no. 10.
Mompou composed it in the key of D, so I am using "drop D" tuning and leaving it in the original key.
The cancione begins with a solo melody, using the natural harmonic scale (in the piano score it's in octaves) then turns into a rigorous, virtuosic dance with triplets. The original melody comes back, making it ABA
The danza is rather happy and gay, but not as shy as the danza no 10.
This will definitely make a great concert work, and I think I'll play it for the rest of my life.
