What makes his music projects unique? Fletcher expands the limited repertoire of the classical guitar by recording music that has never been played on the instrument.  His Suite Compostelana; Canciones y Danzas release is the first and only classical guitar recording of the “Suite Compostelana” and the “14 Canciones y danzas” by Catalan composer, Frederico Mompou.  Fletcher transcribed the “Canciones y danzas,” originally composed for piano, for the classical guitar.

Fletcher on the art of transcription: “You must be faithful to the original, yet true to the instrument in which you are transcribing the music.”

Fletcher on his music: “My number one premise is communication.  If I were a painter I would not use pastels - I would choose oils and acrylics to give the fullest range of expression.”

Fletcher on meeting and playing for Mompou’s widow, Carmen Bravo: “First, we discussed music in general and found that we had a lot in common. Next, I played for her and she shared some good ideas about interpretation. Carmen Bravo is a true expert on Mompou’s music.”

Fletcher on career ambitions:  “I plan to release one CD every year in order in to increase audience and to expand the repertory of the classical guitar. I have always hoped that classical guitar might inspire young people to become more interested in classical music”
